Jakub Witczak
International Security Analyst

International security analyst in the Defence and International Security Programme and the Asia Research Centre
Specialisation: international security, military alliances, Europe-Asia relations, Indo-Pacific (with a focus on Japan and East Asia)
Jakub Witczak holds a BA and an MA in International Relations with a specialisation in Asian studies, and is also pursuing a master’s degree in Global Business, Finance and Governance at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, as well as the CEMS Master in International Management, as part of which he studied at the Vienna University of Business and Economics. He also spent one semester at Sciences Po Lille.
He is a 2026 Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States’ NEXUS programme for 10 next generation security leaders from the US, Japan and Europe, and an alumnus of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ MIRAI programme, during which he completed the Diplomacy and Security Policy track. Throughout his studies he actively engaged in student scientific organisations, founding and chairing the Student Association of Pacific Area States, as well as the Dutch Speaker’s Scientific Club.
For four years he was a member of the Forum of Young Diplomats, serving, among others, as the Coordinator of the Asia-Pacific Regional Group and Coordinator of the Dutch Language Group. In 2026 he was awarded the scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Poland for significant scientific achievements. He completed internships at the Institute of New Europe and the Michał Boym Institute for Asian and Global Studies, with which he currently cooperates on the analysis of Asian affairs.
