On April 23, 2025, the Norwegian-Polish Defence Industry Seminar was held at the Sheraton Grand Warsaw Hotel, organized on the occasion of the official visit to Poland by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. The event was jointly organized by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, Innovation Norway, and the Norwegian Defence and Security Industries Association (FSi).
Among the participants were: Poland’s Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz; Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide; Lieutenant General Krzysztof Król; Brigadier General Tomas Beck from the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency; and Jan Grabowski, Management Board Member of the Polish Armaments Group. The seminar was also attended by representatives of the armed forces and leading defence companies from both Poland and Norway.
The primary focus of the meeting was bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and defence, as well as efforts to enhance joint deterrence capabilities and industrial collaboration. Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized the importance of a partnership grounded in shared values and strategic objectives, as well as the role of industry in building lasting regional security, including through support for Ukraine.
During the panel discussion featuring Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, participants also explored the potential for establishing joint ventures and other collaborative initiatives. Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that the Polish-Scandinavian alliance could become a crucial pillar of a new European security architecture, particularly within the framework of the Re-Arm Europe initiative.
The seminar reaffirmed that, despite geographical differences, Poland and Norway share a common vision of a strong and resilient Europe and a strategic role for the defence industry in ensuring security within NATO. Both countries contribute significantly to NATO’s collective defence by investing in the modernization of their armed forces, enhancing resilience, and ensuring interoperability within the Alliance. In these efforts, the defence industry plays a critical role—not only as a provider of advanced technologies but also as a driver of strategic partnerships.
