Poland and the Nordic Countries Strengthen Security Cooperation – CPF & NUPI Debate
Opublikowano: March 10, 2025
On March 7, 2025, in response to growing geopolitical challenges, the Casimir Pulaski Foundation (CPF) and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) organised together a roundtable discussion “Poland & the Nordics – A Stronger Security Front in a Time of Transatlantic Uncertainty”. With Poland’s geopolitical center of gravity shifting northward, there is a recognized and growing need to strengthen alliances across and along the Baltic Sea. This roundtable served as a vital forum to discuss how to best align strategies and foster resilience in the face of regional security threats.
The discussion opened with a review of the NorPolFactor project, a two-year initiative co-organized with the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). Through a series of seminars in Warsaw, Oslo, and Brussels, and comprehensive reports on Polish-Norwegian bilateral relations, comparative analysis of their threat perception and international formats in which both countries participate, the project has provided valuable insights into mutual understanding of both countries.
The meeting was co-hosted by Norway’s Ambassador to Poland, Øystein Bø and it brought together ambassadors, representatives of the Polish administration, and leading experts to assess the opportunities and challenges associated with deepening such cooperation in the region. Participants engaged in thoughtful debates weighing the pros and cons of various strategic approaches, and they conducted scenario-based analyses to assess the potential impact of future developments on regional security.
The Casimir Pulaski Foundation looks forward to continuing its cooperation with Norway and other regional allies, engaging them in research projects and jointly creating advocacy campaigns for the common objective of a stronger Europe.
