Paris, June 2025 – A high-level cross-party Polish parliamentary delegation visited Paris on June 17–18 to underscore Poland’s strategic commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with France and to seize the opportunity offered by France’s status as Partner Country of the 2025 Warsaw Security Forum.
The delegation included:
- Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm,
- Agnieszka Pomaska, Chair of the EU Affairs Committee,
- Radosław Fogiel, Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee,
- Paweł Bliźniuk, Chair of the Polish-French Parliamentary Group.
The visit was led by Prof. Katarzyna Pisarska, Chair of the Warsaw Security Forum, joined by Konrad Szymański, Chair of the WSF Honorary Organizing Committee, and Tomasz Obremski, Program Manager at the Warsaw Security Forum.
Held just weeks after the signing of the Nancy Treaty, the visit aimed to demonstrate cross-party political will in Warsaw to implement its provisions and to further enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in security, defense industry collaboration, support for Ukraine, transatlantic relations, and the future of the EU.
The delegation held high-level meetings with key figures in the French government, military and strategic community, including:
- Michel Barnier – Prime Minister of France (2024)
- Aurélien Lechevallier – Director of the Cabinet, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs
- Alice Rufo – Director General for International Relations and Strategy, Ministry for the Armed Forces
- Gen. Thierry Burkhard – Chief of the Defence Staff of France
- Gen. Hervé de Courrèges – Director of the IHEDN (Institut des hautes études de défense nationale)
- Bruno Fuchs – MP, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee
- Jean-Michel Jacques – MP, President of the Defence and Armed Forces Committee
- Jean-Louis Thiériot – MP, President of the French-Polish Amity Group
- Natalia Pouzyreff – MP, Secretary of the National Defence Committee
- Frédéric Petit – MP for the 7th constituency (French citizens abroad – Germany, Central Europe, Balkans)
- Sylvie Kauffmann – Senior foreign Affairs Columnist at Le Monde
- Arnaud Danjean – MEP (2009–2024), Special Advisor to the Prime Minister (2024)
The delegation also participated in a plenary session of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee. The full recording of the session is available here as well as a roundtable discussion hosted by IHEDN who is an institutional partner of this year WSF.
A recurring highlight of the visit was strong alignment on shared security challenges and a reaffirmation of the mutual recognition of the growing strategic relevance of Central and Eastern Europe within European defense and foreign policy. With France playing a leading role in this year’s Warsaw Security Forum, the conference will present an unique opportunity to lay a strong foundation for implementing the Nancy Treaty and reaffirming Polish-French leadership in shaping a secure and sovereign Europe.
