Venture capital funding for the defense innovation ecosystem – the main topic of the third meeting of the National Security Industry Club

On March 5, 2025, the third meeting of members and partners of the National Security Industry Club (KPBN), which has been active since May 2024, took place. The event took place at the headquarters of Accenture – KPBN’s Content Partner. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss key challenges, opportunities, and prospects for the development of the Polish innovation ecosystem in the context of ensuring national security.

The debate was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Polish Development Fund, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, the AGH University of Science and Technology, and the following venture capital funds: Balnord, Expeditions Fund, OTB Ventures, Sunfish Investments, and R+ Global Opportunities.

One of the key points of the meeting was a presentation of the Polish Defence Fund program and an analysis of the current defense innovation landscape in Poland. Experts discussed the sector’s growth prospects and the differences in how venture capital funds finance defense innovation in the public and private sectors.

The thematic partner for the event was MS Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych, represented by its CEO, Mateusz Zawistowski. CEO Agnieszka Kubera led the Accenture advisory team, which served as the KPBN’s content partner. Meanwhile, attorney Michał Gliński, a partner at Wardyński & Partners, led the debate’s legal partner team.

The meeting was opened by Aleksander Sala, Secretary General of the National Security Industry Club, who presented preliminary findings from Poland’s first study on the combined sectors of defense and national resilience. The study’s findings focused on areas of investment and funding for enterprises, including innovation.

The debate was moderated by Wojciech Dzięgiel, a member of the board of the Casimir Pulaski Foundation. The meeting delivered valuable insights and recommendations regarding the further development of Poland’s innovation ecosystem and the roles played by both the public and private sectors within it.
